Try and find better. You won’t. Magic in the madness. Reilly is the real deal and if you need your star shined and meds thrown your way … he’s isn’t the one. Medical expert specializing in saving lives and families. First you’ll be annoyed ( mad is the intimate word) not much will make sense until it absolutely does. He is worth your trust. Hopefully you can earn his. No better advocate to have in your corner.
I am so grateful I was referred to his group therapy. His methods are eccentric, but I appreciate the way he used the destructive way I thought about myself to goad me into refuting my negative ways of viewing the world. You have to be able to look beyond being sensitive to hearing old tapes that are already lurking in your mind. Thank you Dr, Reilly.
Just about everything that is good today in my life I owe to Dr. Reilly and the groups he's led. I recommend him without reservation. I was convinced at first that group therapy would not work for me, but my primary care MD insisted that I give Dr. Reilly a try before he would recommend any 1 on 1 therapist. I was wrong about group therapy. Group therapy as practiced by Dr. Reilly is amazingly effective. Call him.
6 years ago, my parents encouraged me to see Dr. Reilly. I was hospitalized from suicidal ideations and depression, made mistakes, and lost my job right after graduation. I needed therapy to deal with where I was. I knew I messed up, and my self esteem was low. I listened to him, and went to multiple sessions on a weekly basis for 6 months. He consistently put me down in front of the group, and they would agree with him. I had several breakdowns during sessions, and felt very defeated. It wasn’t until my dad went to his grou... read more
Doctor Reilly is an interesting figure. He is very opinionated and takes his opinions on politics, women and "the blacks" into his appointments with patients and group therapy. It does not belong there. He is an okay doctor because there are some truths that he sprinkles into his opinions. For example, he states that when in group therapy you rise to the psychological level of the leader (him). But at the end of the day, I DO NOT want to be like Dr.Reilly.
I haven't seen him as a patient since 2015, but I have been suspicious of him since leaving. I saw him for a year while I was at school in Williamsburg and I left because I graduated and moved. When I left group he tried to manipulate me to stay by saying I was making excuses for not wanting to drive an hour+ just to stay. He was only happy if your success was a result of his advice. Any GOOD psychiatrist will be happy for you to make independent progress in life and will work toward having the tools to graduate from therapy... read more
Years ago, when I had undiagnosed bipolar disorder, I went to one of Dr. Reilly's groups. He was weirdly aggressive and controlling, and if I hadn't been so depressed and numb, I probably would have been scared of him. When I was hospitalized with a psychotic break, he abandoned me as a patient and wrote a note accusing me of being deceptive because I'd confessed to having hoarded pills in a suicide attempt. He broke my trust in psychiatrists for a long time.
I would never recommend him... I think he needs counseling himself. What is with pay me $50.00 or I can't see you?
I notice from the reviews that people who see him love him or hate him. They either get turned off right away or give him a chance and find him remarkably helpful. My experience with him was nothing short of amazing. I would not have believed I could feel that much better. He isn't a typical psychiatrist. He's a little unconventional. (Such as having a spartan office and zero staff.) But he's straightforward, trustworthy, truly compassionate, absolutely brilliant and incredibly effective.
