I’ve been an REI member for over 20 years, but this recent experience was extremely disappointing. I had to exchange two defective pairs of pants that I purchased online. To make sure the replacements weren't also defective, I drove 40 minutes to the nearest store. Unfortunately, the sales clerk refused to honor the original purchase price because the color they had in stock was different—even though it was REI that sent me defective items in the first place. As others have mentioned REI is not what it once was. They were once known for great customer service and standing behind the products they sale with an industry leading return policy. I purchased a Coros watch that quit working after 100 days. I was told that they only allowed returns on watches for 90 days and there was no flexibility. I have never returned anything before and will not be shopping here in the future.
Great selection of outdoor gear and clothing. Staff helpful but not pushy. Great place to gear up before your next adventure
