I want to be a proud member of the RNAO, and I am a member, but right now I can not say I am proud. This new attack on the RPN role is wrong. It is not a good day when you feel shame for belonging to an organization you had wanted to be a part of for so long. We always talk about working as a team but this comes closer to bullying. I will become more involved and I will become the change I want to see. We need more RNs to advocate for their co-workers and friends.
I am against the descrimination of one classification against the other. I believe there are places for *BOTH* RN & RPN in our health care system. If you really wanted to prepare Canada's health care for the aging population, you would promote cooperation to join forces and EMPLOY as many health care providers as possible. I am so disappointed that you are wasting resources in promoting cases for REMOVING NURSES jobs rather than creating new ones. What a shame.
Would really love to support the RNAO but alas I am just a "less qualified care provider". Good luck with your initiatives.
Ontario nurses help us provide free healthcare and medication to people in poor communities in Africa without health facility. They sacrifice their time and resources to help us and we appreciate that a lot.
