My only experience is trying to set an appointment for my son who was suffering a sports injury. Trying to get a specialist appointment with PPO and still needing a referral is pointless. I understand that folks will likely say, “then go somewhere else” and due to this unnecessary hurdle, I will have to. However, I pay for very good PPO insurance so I don’t have to waste time in this way. Most other facilities don’t need a referral given the PPO benefits.
