Great place for visitors; reason to keep living in Raleigh I frequently bring out-of-town guests to Quail Ridge Books & Music, sometimes just to browse and sometimes to hear some of the world-class authors who give readings nearly every day. I also come to the town-hall meetings about vital issues of the day, such as health care, which gives us a chance to talk with our elected officials and local experts. Of course, the book selection makes it all go ... hand picked by the literate and lovely readers who run the store. The ... read more
HORRIBLE The store is full of ignorant and rude people who have their own 'Quail Ridge' club of customers. They need to give up the sad song of being an 'independent store.' Who cares, taht is exactly what the mom and pop hardware stores said when Lowe's blew into town. The store is dark and musty, and exactly why they don't make bookstores like this anymore. PROS: NOTHING CONS: RUDE STAFF, NO SOUTHERN COMFORT.
A Raleigh Landmark Quail Ridge Bookstore is not just a place to buy a book. It is a place to rejuvenate one's spirit among not only books, but among people who care about books and about the people who read them. Whenever I need a little more focus in my life, this is a place where I go. Nancy, Jim, Sarah, Helen, Trish and everyone who works in the store helps provide an atmosphere of finding just the right book for the right time. It is truly a special place in the city of Raleigh.
A Center for Community I wish I could give more than five stars to Quail Ridge Books. It's a fine store, offering splendid service (personalized, especially when you're hunting for something not easy to find) and a very wide selection of books. But it's more than a store; it has become a center for our community, and often builds community through programs that go beyond the expected author visits. Panels and symposiums on important topics of the day feature knowledgeable community leaders. The staff welcomes you each time y... read more
Good Local Book Store Quail Ridge Books is smaller bookstore, but they have a good sellection. They support local authors and musicians. You are likely to find something unusual in this bookstore. The employees are helpful and they have book on every possible subject. I kind of e had a coffee bar though.
Neat corner book store Ok, so its in a shopping center, not on the corner. Quail Ridge is a great small bookstore though. You get an intimate feel in the store, and the people there are super helpful in helping you find what you need, and suggesting some great reads as well.
Two Words: Customer Service Customer service is the reason why I buy all my books at Quail Ridge. I've sent numerous emails with requests and always gotten a quick reply. The staff will also research items if you don't have all the information. Just send an email with a description and they'll do the rest, and hold the book for you. Plus, as an independent store you are helping the local economy and not some big corporation headquartered in California.
wonderful store for book lovers It is wonderful to come upon a business that still earns customers the old-fashioned way. By having a great product (tons of books) arranged neatly and very interestingly, making you find things you did not even know you were looking for! The friendly customer service reps made me glad I went a little out of my way. The personal recommendations on the books arranged everywhere made me aware of new authors.
Quail Ridge Books and Music This is one of the finest bookstores in the U.S.. I grew up in bookstores, I've worked in bookstores, but nowhere, ever, have I met such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. There is no question they won't answer, no book they won't knock themselves out helping you find. Nancy and Jim Olson are passionate, brilliant booksellers who care deeply about good reading and music, and they have a fantastic, warm, always welcoming group of colleagues working with them. Everyone who works there is a discri... read more
