An abdominal ultrasound ordered by my hematologist indicated NAFLD. Qaseem changed the diagnosis to NASH which is a progression of NAFLD. Two years later, he ordered an abdominal ultrasound instead of a liver ultrasound. I complained and terminated the relationship. He then ordered a Liver Ultrasound -- too late. I refused to see him again. He typically spends 5 minutes during a 30-minute appointment. He ordered a colonoscopy when I first met him. He knew I had severe constipation. He spent less than five minutes with me, during a 20 minute appointment. His English is difficult to understand, which makes it very hard to understand what he is saying. Lastly, he comes across as rushed every time I see him -- for the past 6 years.
He ordered an ultrasound of my liver but then refused to contact me to explain/interpret the results of the ultrasound. As a result, I was forced to ask another provider to interpret the results of this test. He never spends more than 5 minutes in the exam room for 20-30 minute appointments. That's why so many patients have ranked him with 1 star here at Healthgrades.
Maybe he wasn't having a good day. Seemed very rushed. I was partially awake during colonoscopy procedure. For some reason he began pushing and kneading my stomach causing pain that I hadn't expected and didn't appreciate. I didn't receive an explanation, after the procedure.
I have been having routine colonoscopies every five years since I was 35. I was 50 when Dr. Qaseem performed my colonoscopy and, as with the other procedures, polyps were found and removed. After the colonoscopy he asked me if my diet was high in fat, and it was, so I told him yes. He told me to change my diet to low fat and eat more fiber. Well, I took his advice and did what he recommended and my last colonoscopy ( a week ago) did not find polyps! He is the only Dr. who helped me.
