Amazing and fun environment! I highly recommend PulsePDX.
I can't overstate how much I love Pulse and the community that's built here. I've been taking classes here somewhat regularly for over 11 years, and even after an absence, it feels like no time has passed. Some of the friendliest people you'll meet in Portland, between the students and teachers. It's also just so much FUN! This is the most fun workout of all time! The instructors are incredible, everyone is super nice, the music is amazing, the dances are choreographed so well, it's high energy, it's welcoming, and there's such a strong sense of community. There's no pressure on dancing a certain way or getting it "right" - it's just about having fun! Do yourself a favor and sign up for a class :)
