Located near Grand Central, Public House sits out of the way on 41st Street, which is a rarely traversed side street. The main problem Public House may find is that its poor location has kept it off the radar of anybody, let alone the main young professional, suit-wearing types it clearly hopes to attract. Drink selections are solid, but a few dollars overpriced, as is the upscale' American food. The investors of this out-of-state franchise clearly missed something. Perhaps that will change as word spreads. Until then, enjoy... read more

Cheerful, mentally challenged staff – I applaud efforts to employ the mentally challenged. But sometimes, especially when serving the public, this can go too far. Drink Club went to THE PUBLIC HOUSE during the vice-presidential debates. The large sports-oriented wall-mounted TVs all showed the event. BUT, the sound was off, and a DJ was blasting 80s music. Well, you could just read the captions, right? Nope. They didn't have the captions on. When one of our group went to the bar to suggest they turn them on, the bar-tender t... read more
Great Happy hour! – This is a great addition to the midtown neighborhood. Perfect for Afterwork bar and restaurant before you get onto train at Grand Central. I this the specialty drinks are great! Try the blue cheese stuffed olives martini..amazing! I would definitely come back for happy hour and lunch! Try the chipolte wings or spinach dip! Steaks are great too!
Great service, nice crowd! – My friend and I took a lot of time planning my 30th birthday party at a place called Bogart's. Unfortunately, my experience with them was horrible, leaving me with 30 guests and no place to go. We looked like a freak show parade walking down Park ave with all of our costumes on! Luckily my friend found Public House who already had a halloween party in place. I loved it! The guys at the door were great, opening the doors for us, making sure no one tripped and fell on the ramp (since everyone had s... read more
good time – I'm reading these reviews and wondering if i went to the same bar! haha. I go there alot, have a great time, bartenders are great, drinks are strong, and the food i've had has been really good. like it.
what?? – I cant believe what I'm reading about my favorite bar. I work around the corner and love it there. I go after work alot and have been there once or twice late night...definitely a different crowd but fun to see familiar bartenders' faces there. I happen to love them...they're hilarious and always remember my drink. Havent had a bad experience yet!
This place is not worth the trip. I went for lunch with a couple of coworkers things were going well. I informed the server that I had a dairy allergy and she snickered. I don't thing a dairy allergy is a funny thing. If that is how Public House represents it self with rude staff I am never going back.
Burger? – Went here for lunch and it was bad. Had the chicken fingers which were burnt and asked for blue cheese dressing and received something that resembled blue cheese dressing but tasted like chemicals. Had the burger and it was so dry on a burnt bun with a tomato that still had the core. Even a fast food chain doesn't serve the core in their tomato slices. Read the other reviews and wonder who wrote them because I did not receive that type of experience.
Worst Lunch – Went to Public House based on the others reviews. Wish I hadn't listened. I ordered the artichoke dip and it was so dry you could spackle the holes in the walls. Then ordered the hamburger and it was so dry and over done that the Bruins could have used it as a hockey puck. Learned my lesson I will never go back.
Hopeless Hour – Went here for Happy Hour and it was all suits still thinking that they are at their frat house doing shots of Jaegar bombs. I tried to order a drink and the brunette bartender was doing shots of tequila with the customers. I waited forever to get a drink. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a happy hour. Public House should rename their Happy Hour HOPELESS HOUR.
Public House has a 3.9 star rating with 837 reviews.
