If I could give negative rating, I would! I recently closed on a house and received a letter from Property Profile, Inc saying they "recommend all homeowners obtain a copy of their Property Profile Report which includes a complimentary copy of your current Grand Deed or other record of title. These documents provide evidence that the property was in fact transferred." The actual deed I received from the county register of deeds office - for free - is all the proof I need. It is scary how this type of company can gain access to your information and send a mail to look like from government (when it's not) and get paid for grant deed you already received during closing.
An official mailer sent out . Looks like a bill and very confusing especially to the elderly. Was paid thinking it was a bill. Very misleading and should not be allowed to practice in this manner.
They sent a document meant to look official asking for money for documents that you get already at closing. Don't reward them for the deceptive tactics by paying them.
This company sent us a scary-looking mailer suggesting that we might be open to legal action if we didn't pay them for documents related to our deed. Their mailer was designed to look like an official government mailer, and demanded $86 for a "Property Assessment Profile" and "Complimentary Grant Deed", which are fancy names for documents you get at your closing for free, or can be obtained for a few dollars from your local government offices.
