I had prof. duct cleaning co out to clean the original range hood in my 1950's home. The range hood hadn't been cleaned in at least 10 years but likely far longer and it was totally ineffective at removing cooking smells from the house. They came out in the morning and were super quiet in the house so as not to wake a late sleeper. The team showed me the fans before cleaning and they were completely clogged with grease.
