Steve of Portlandia was prompt in getting me a bid for a pretty large job (about $32k) -- and then ghosted me entirely. I texted, emailed, and left a voicemail. This was after I turned down other bids. Just stopped answering texts and emails entirely. Immensely unprofessional. Even if something bad had happened, I would have expected a brief note saying so.
Steve and his amazing crew (Pedro is the best) have installed new roofs on TWO homes for me across the last 5 years. The most recent (this summer) was a beast of a job on a 1905 cottage that had no plywood underlayer and no access for his equipment. Both jobs were completed on budget (less than any other bid), within DAYS, and with impeccable professionalism. The owner has the respect of his long-standing crew (and vice versus). Yes I am a real customer who just had a roof installed. I usually don’t write reviews unless something goes terribly wrong or it was a particularly good experience. We’ve had our fair share of mini disasters with contractors but I’m happy to comment on the ladder. From the start Steve the owner was very responsive. He was the first company I contacted and so I waited to get 3-4 other bids before circling back to Portlandia.
