I would not recommend this company to anyone.They rebuilt our chimney for our furnace.We had to have the gas company out to relight our pilot light and found out that it had collected water because of the chimney leaking.They had to come out and reseal the chimney and are denying that it was their fault that the furnace ended up with water in it.It's funny how we didn't have problems until they worked on our chimney and we have the gas company say that it's because of the chimney.
When I needed chimney help, Portland Chimney was the name given to me by a local contractor, a friend in the roofing business and our realtor. All had good experiences with them. I asked them to come look at my chimney which I had been planning to tuckpoint (replace old crumbly mortar with new). When I got started, I found that a lot of the bricks were loose on one side and I feared that half the chimney would need to be rebuilt. Worker issues (working on neighbor's chimney) – Our neighbor was having her chimney, which is right next to our driveway, repaired. On the first day one of the workers was nice enough to tell me that we might want to move one of our cars as there could possibly be falling bricks. Day one, no problem. Day two, however, was a different story! My daughter (in town visiting) and husband were in our back yard (I was in the house) and a fine cloud of cement dust blew over our entire driveway and into our back yard. Meh Experience – We had a bad experience that was drawn out over a time span of several months. Once we walked away from the deal, a manager called us to make things right. Althought things did move smoother with the manager (DON"T TALK TO THEIR SCHEDULING CLERK!!!), we did still have administrative frustrations and poor communication. Not sure we still recommend them to friends but the technician was knowledgable, friendly & efficient.
