It is what it is. You go because it's an easy outdoor option, but in my experience the service is always slow, slow, slow. If you're at a table, be prepared to sit with an empty drink for 15-20 minutes before your server comes by again.
very good place, nice atmosphere and the fabulous band! next time we'll try the food!!!!
Worse service I have ever gotten at a restaurant. Our waiter as rude. When asked for extra napkins, his reply was "when I get to it"! He would not accommodate special requests, ie: no spicy mayo on a sandwich, when we asked for that he replied "I will see what I can do". Soda was flat and the food cold. We will never be back. What was supposed to be a fun evening celebrating my daughter's upcoming wedding ended up in an upset.

Great lobster roll, great service. Good place to have a couple of pops.
Was really looking forward to this place . Went with three other people all ordered different items and each were awful! The lobster in the omelette was shredded and almost brownish black and the lobster on the Benny (as we are true lobster lovers and know our lobster) was old and not fresh at all! The tomatoes in my friends omelette were like rubber ! Shortly after leaving we were all I'll and had to cut our day of fun on the town short. The Porthole has been a family favorite for years. We visited ~10 yrs ago and had a great experience. On our second Portland trip in October 2014, we had the same type of experience. Hole in the wall, local-style atmosphere with friendly staff. I 100% recommend The Porthole to anyone visiting Portland.
Always a great breakfast and a visit to Portland isn't complete without stopping in. My server Karen was top notch and had a beautiful smile. Thanks guys and see ya soon!
