Before scheduing a procedure that is covered by Ins. be proactive in verifying with the Ins. Co. that the pre-determination and billing procedures comply with Network protocols. I was billed on the day of a procedure nearly as much as non-insured patients are charged, even though office staff would have known what was allowed. Will not comment on unprofessional responses given by dentist and staff later. Waited ~3 mos to recover major overcharge directly from the dentist. Ins. Co. was terrific

I was so disappointed with Dr. Porten that I will not only never go back to him, but stopped seeing my family dentist as he was the one to recommend Dr. Porten. Absolutely unprofessional. Spoke to me in a very theatening mannar when I wanted to delay the recommended treatment until my insurance would cover it. During the procedure itself his hands shook and were completely unsteady. He ended up cutting in to my tooth's root on both side taking chunks out of it. Now I need an implant.

I only went here because I was referred. I wish I would've done my own research thoigh. The communication is terrible. Just expect to be lied to or expect the exact opposite of what you're told. Can I pay for this procedure with my credit card? Im told absolutely. Procedure is done the following week and as I hand over my card I'm told they can't take credit cards. After I pay the $1500 bill I wait 15 mins for a receipt and then see an additional balance of $160!? No one here has a clue.

I would never recommend Dr. Porten. He sends you to make sure you can get dental implants. Then when you get the ok to do it, they fall out. Then he gives you the same spiel. After a second time, they fell out again. I could have gotten dentures to glue in, which I have to do anyway. It would have been cheaper. His manner isn't so great either.
