It is not safe or sanitary. I go to the shopping center often. I was wondering what the store had to offer. Pretty much everything was provided. The best part that they provide are rodents. Nice, I saw it running along a wall... Save yourself and your best friend, take him or her to a better maintained facility!
Even the dog didn't like it. I bought a package and was sorry I did. They charged me for missing days when I had told them the week before that I wouldn't be bringing my dog in. The place is not clean (as others have pointed out) and I don't think they treat the dogs very well. My dog would pull away when I tried to get him through the door. Now we go to Dogtopia and we both couldn't be happier!
My dogs and I love Poochie Playhouse & its new staff Wow, looking at those negative reviews makes me think that some competitor is trying to run down Poochie Playhouse to improve their own business --- the negative comments don't even relate to what I have experienced since I've been bringing my 2 dogs there in mid-2008. The names of the people mentioned don't even work there anymore -- if they ever did.
They stole my credit card number I called to make a reservation for my dog since I was going to be visiting the DC area. 40 minutes after I gave them my credit card number for the reservation, charges in Springfield and Alexandria started appearing on my credit card. And I'm in Charlotte. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. The staff can not be trusted. Do not endanger your dog!
Concerns about previous reviews????? I have just recently moved into the Alexandria area and am researching a place to take my 2 dogs. I have read all of the reviews on this business and it concerns me that a lot of the posts are from August 2009 and most all the posts with the exception of a couple are from the year 2009. Pathetic I have stopped bringing my dog to Poochie. the owner is quite arrogant, the workers (I hate to call them that but that's how they're treated.) Not respected employees, for as much warmth and kindness they display, they deserve to have a manager actually do something work related rather than sit and watch. I've always shown respect and paid on time, there. Rumor has it the managers have their favorite customers. Every customer should be treated with equal respect and courtesy, sorry, no favorites w/ the most money.

My oldest dog started attending Poochie Playhouse daycare under the original owners, and it was very professional and well run ~ at least 1 of the original owners was a registered Dog Trainer. Improving and striving to be your dogs home away from home I have worked at the Poochie Playhouse for over 5 years now. In those years, the company has changed ownership twice and I think it is run better now than it has been in a long time. The facility is getting a makeover and the new owners are very easy to get along with. Just wasn't satisfied I used to have my dog visit there often but I had to move. I'm not going to miss that particular store, I wont go into detail as to why. With all the negative reviews, I can save the time from doing that.
