Giving them a Second try... PLEASE READ COMPLETELY:For those of you who are unaware, Poochie Playhouse has had 3 owners in the last 5 years. My oldest dog started attending Poochie Playhouse daycare under the original owners, and it was very professional and well run ~ at least 1 of the original owners was a registered Dog Trainer. Nothing special here The pricing is over the top. As much as they charge you'd think their facility would reflect their high prices. I was allowed to get a view of the place and am disappointed at how the play rooms look. The lobby was the only thing that was pleasing to the eye. The staff are kind and welcoming though. Maybe I'll take my two labs to get bathed there, by me but that's it. Overall, the place needs to be renovated or something.
Insider Information I used to work at The Poochie Playhouse, as a matter of fact, I actually worked with all 3 owners. The first owners and beginners of Poochie were amazing. They spent the time with not only the dogs but also the employees to make sure everybody knew what they were doing. The second owner is nothing but a joke. They stole my credit card number I called to make a reservation for my dog since I was going to be visiting the DC area. 40 minutes after I gave them my credit card number for the reservation, charges in Springfield and Alexandria started appearing on my credit card. And I'm in Charlotte. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. The staff can not be trusted. Do not endanger your dog!
Improving and striving to be your dogs home away from home I have worked at the Poochie Playhouse for over 5 years now. In those years, the company has changed ownership twice and I think it is run better now than it has been in a long time. Is it getting torn down? That's what it looks like. It's been there for awhile. They never did great business. The place is poor. The rooms are plain, they need work to make it welcoming to the customer and their pet. I don't feel comfortable. No chance taking my pooch there. It needs to be redone. asap.
My dogs and I love Poochie Playhouse & its new staff Wow, looking at those negative reviews makes me think that some competitor is trying to run down Poochie Playhouse to improve their own business --- the negative comments don't even relate to what I have experienced since I've been bringing my 2 dogs there in mid-2008. Just wasn't satisfied I used to have my dog visit there often but I had to move. I'm not going to miss that particular store, I wont go into detail as to why. With all the negative reviews, I can save the time from doing that.
Not comfortable w/ over night stay I don't trust the new employees, I used to take my pet there for boarding when I had business travel. When I was familiar with the past employees who performed the over nights I could call and receive an update on how my dog was doing (eating, sleeping, overall behavior). Now nobody picks up the phone when I call. What if there is an emergency and I had to let them know I'd need to pick up my dog before the next day. Do they stay with the dogs over night anymore? Is anyone there??
