Scores of diners visit this restaurant on weekend nights, especially when an exciting independent film is premiering at the Ken Cinema across the street. Inside, the recently renovated restaurant has abandoned its old 1950s diner atmosphere in favor of dramatic rust-colored walls, and a new wine list offers more choices. But this family-run restaurant continues to offer unique and wholly-Mexican. Fresh made tortilla chips arrive with a thick spicy salsa, a bowl of dangerous jalapenos and slightly milder carrots. Great The potato taquitos are my favorite! I love going here and definitely glad that I found this place. It is definitely my favorite place to go to in San Diego.
Oh my god, the beans are so good... and so are the tacos, enchiladas and guacamole, to name just a few tasty items. The food comes in huge portions so you could split a combination with a friend and easily feel full. Or you can get your perfect combination by ordering from the a la carte menus. Everything is good here, including the service and atmosphere.
Amazing Staff After reading all of the reviews on this place it's obvious that you either love it or hate it ... I absolutely love this place. You can't find better service anywhere in town...well maybe you can but in all the years I've lived here, I've never felt more welcome in a restaurant. The staff are funny, witty, sassy and rockin. Aside from the hip and trendy kids that crawl all over that place the last thing you'll ever see is pretentious staff. Now ... to the food! I highly recommend the chicken enchiladas with fl... read more
Best Mex! This is our favorite Mexican food in San Diego! The atmosphere is fun, the food is reasonably priced and the drinks - nobody can compete with their margs! This place is great for two or a bigger group, including kids.
Great Mexican! What can I say⦠they have tasty strong drinks & usually have a beer on special. Their enchiladas are great and my husband swears by the machaca torta. Cool locally owned and run business with great décor. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait if you're there for dinner on a weekend night. You can always find a seat or stand by the bar. If you find yourself there, be sure to ask for Rod, the bartender. He's the best in town.
Mexican We discovered Ponce's in December 2007 (thanks to Rod Luck at KUSI) and have eaten there every week since! We LOVE the potato taquitos, cheese enchiladas, and margaritas on the rocks! We now bring friends, family, and neighbors to Ponce's instead of going to Old Town for authentic and delicious Mexican food. You can't beat the service, the price, nor the quality. We love it. The only downside? The parking is tight but worth it.
We love Ponce's! best tacos, enchiladas, salsas, margaritas! everything is good & the staff are wonderful!
Delicious food and drinks
