Polly's Bakery Cafe started in 1965 with the opening of the first freestanding KFC restaurant in Southern California in the city of Belmont Shore. Within the next four years, the company opened a total of eight KFC restaurants. In 1968, the first Polly's Pie Palace was opened in Fullerton, Calif., serving fresh pies and coffee.
