WONDERFUL, CUTE and now on VANDERBILT AVENUE! – I've been to POLISH BAR several times for manicures, pedicures and waxing and LOVE it. They take appointments, which can make my visit convenient but sometimes on a slower day I just turn up and get serviced. They have SOOOOOOOooooooo many polishes OPI, ESSIE, CHANEL, NARS, even organic ones, go figure, that I don't bother to carry around "my color" anymore I adore the choices. Service is prompt with a smile at the front door, all manicurists SPEAK and UNDERSTAND English and ar... read more
Poor customer service – I've had two experiences with this place and both time, I was so turned off that I couldn't go through with getting the service done. First, I went in for a walk-in appointment. The woman at the front desk was so rude (like I interrupted her or something) that I turned around and left. More recently, I had to have an encounter with the owner and I'd have to agree with "Jessica H." She took dismissive to a new level. The idea that the customer is right (within means, of course) is totally lost there. F... read more
Poor service and training – I was told i would only have to wait 5 minutes and ended up sitting here over 30 minutes. I got my eyebrows waxed but got burnt in the process and had to go to a wedding looking like i had been into a fight. My friend got a pedicure at the same time and was surprised how tough the lady was on her feet - This was almost unconfortable. Obvious lack of training.
Get the 2-week manicure or you're screwed – Very nice place--cool looking, good music, accommodating. Except that they use so much paint thinner in their polishes that manicures rarely last longer than 2 days. There's a 2-week manicure that you can pay extra for and then schedule polish changes within the 14 days after your original mani.....but who wants to do that? I'm no princess, but I'm definitely not doing enough manual labor to chip my polish that quickly. Would have like to think this only happened with one popular c... read more
Bloody cuticles, poorly trained employees – A friend and I went to PBB for mani/pedis. This was our second visit to the salon. While picking out polish colors, we were given the option to upgrade out service and we both chose to do the Fresh Brown Sugar Scrub pedi. We both enjoyed the extended length of procedure, but we disappointed that only a timy amount of the Fresh scrub was used on our legs and not on our feet. When we moved on to our manicures I noticed some dirt under my fingernails and when I pointed it out to my ma... read more
Tried this place twice and was disappointed ( i really wanted to like it!) – I really wanted to like this place. Clinton Hill needed a fun, funky place to get your nails done and i was happy when the Polish Bar appeared in the neighborhood. I treated myself to a $25 berry scrub pedicure ($5 more then their normal pedi) . 15 minutes into my treatment I was told that i could not get the Berry scrub as I my legs had been shaved that morning and this would cause a rash. However I was still charged $25 dollars as she used berry l... read more
GREAT Neighborhood Salon – This place is fabulous, definitely for all the divas in the area. The owner Tricia is supersweet and does the BEST eyebrows...I've been to all the city hotspots...eliza's, anastasia, robin evans, warren tricomi, etc...she tops them all. They do great mani's and pedi's as well of course. Have'nt been here in months ...only because the past few times i've tried they've been packed!
Clinton Hill's beauty outpost piles on the sweet extras. – In Short A polka dot decorating scheme in sugary shades of pink and chocolate brown is just a preview of the treats doled out by owner Tricia Lee. A Clinton Hill girl herself, Lee supports the neighborhood by offering cookies and cupcakes baked by local epicureans--paired, of course, with complimentary wine--during her manicures, pedicures, skin treatments and waxing for both women and men. Her house line of beauty products are equally sweet: flavors include strawber... read more
You're worth it girl! – Nice break from the usual, dime-a-dozen nail salons -- this place has a funky, girly vibe, with a stylish interior and and an actual sound system. They have a selection of designer polishes (Chanel, YSL) in the latest, hard-to-find colors. Service was sweet, professional, and CLEAN -- it's a few bucks more than the usual spots, but so worth it. Go for the mani-pedi package ($30) and brow shaping by STARR. You'll feel like a little diva, and love it.
