A plumbing tech was sent to handle my problem the same morning that I called. Adrian, the tech, took a few minutes to assess my bathtub leak, told me the problem and what it would cost to fix it. He was finished within 10 minutes upon returning with the replacement part and wrote the invoice up at exactly the price quoted. The bathtub doesn’t leak at all now, and there is a 30 day guarantee on the work. Competence is a rare thing these days!

This company charges $199-499 just to come out to your home. They call it an investigation fee. This fee is in addition to them actually fixing the problem. I clearly communicated the issue: Water drips from my tub to the floor below. Once they showed me what I had already told them, I was offered two solutions: open a hole in my ceiling to further investigate (additional cost unknown) OR replace the tub's drain pop up (an additional $238).
