I have been ordering my eyewear from Big City Optical Wilmette because of the selection and the great service I receive from them. On this occasion, I brought in a new prescription from another provider and found that I could not see properly when I picked up my new eyeglasses. Do *not* go here. They are crazy. If you give them your phone number or email address, they will hound you to the gates of hell to come back and spend more money with them. I have never been spammed so much by a business before in my life. UPDATE June 2025: They called me AGAIN to sell me their services. What is wrong with these people? If I could give negative stars I would do it.
I wear both contacts and glasses. I have a $20 copay for an eye exam through my insurance. Without asking me, in addition to the regular exam, they gave me a separate 'contact' exam and retinal exam. This completely surprised me at bill time when I owed $130. I have never had these additional expenses for eye exams at other places. I only went here for an exam because it was listed on my insurance but I will never go back now
My experience here with Dr Schreznel was not great. I came in for an eye exam and it was an extremely odd experience. While doing the exam, I felt like the answers I was giving were “wrong”. For example, when conducting the exam and he asked questions of “can you see better or worse?”, I would answer a certain way and he would often say “hmm that shouldn’t be the case” or something along those lines. I had a great experience all around! The exam was great and Christina did a fantastic job of informing me of a bunch of savings and exchange options I had no idea even existed! She was incredibly helpful and patient through the whole purchase and even helped walk me through submitting for a rebate. Highly recommend this location, you will be well taken care of.
