I ordered new lenses for my frames i previously purchased at Big City on 7/29. i got them put into the frames on 8/23. On 8/26 i went back bc the frames were really loose and the gentleman working said he could not do much adjustment bc the frames would break due to deterioration over the years of wearing. I’ve been a customer of this location of Big City Optical for years. Every year I go in and get an exam so I can buy a year supply of contact lenses. Last year, based on the timing of my exam, I had two extra unopened boxes of non expired lenses. I was offered the option to return the boxes for a refund, which I did. Upon returning the boxes I was given the option of a refund to my credit card or a credit on my account. Thinking the place was above board, I said they could add the credit to my account. I have been ordering my eyewear from Big City Optical Wilmette because of the selection and the great service I receive from them. On this occasion, I brought in a new prescription from another provider and found that I could not see properly when I picked up my new eyeglasses. Nathan suggested I try them first thing in the morning. When I still could not see properly, I came back and he had Dr. Schrenzel check the prescription. Do *not* go here. They are crazy. If you give them your phone number or email address, they will hound you to the gates of hell to come back and spend more money with them. I have never been spammed so much by a business before in my life. UPDATE June 2025: They called me AGAIN to sell me their services. What is wrong with these people? If I could give negative stars I would do it.
I wear both contacts and glasses. I have a $20 copay for an eye exam through my insurance. Without asking me, in addition to the regular exam, they gave me a separate 'contact' exam and retinal exam. This completely surprised me at bill time when I owed $130. I have never had these additional expenses for eye exams at other places. I only went here for an exam because it was listed on my insurance but I will never go back now
