The zebra striped couches and psychedelic lights are what most people associate with Planet Rose. The decor seems to grab the most attention, but the karaoke is equally impressive. Those with stage fright will love this place, simply because there is no sign of a stage. Patrons are give wireless microphones, so that they can give a great performance without ever getting out of their seats. This funky hangout spot also makes a great venue for private parties.

Same experience with ridiculous wait for songs to come up – I used to love this place, but the last few times, I've noticed the same thing that other reviewers here did, that for some reason the song programmer was reshuffling the order of the songs. At one point I saw that I was #15. When I checked again 10 songs later, I was at #11!!! How does that happen. Planet Rose = Karaoke Good Times – There's no way you can not have a good time at Planet Rose. The bar staff and owners are extremely friendly and accomodating. The official KJ is friendly and responsive and ultimately fair. The karaoke starts as early as you want it to start with big crowds after 10 PM. Yes, you will wait a little while to sing during peak time -- but this is New York people. There's a lot of people here for a reason -- it's a fun laid-back place. TWO DOLLARS PER SONG?? LOL !! – I came to Planet Rose by myself a couple of weekends ago. The ambience is nice and dark, funky, laid-back, and the drinks weren't badly priced for NYC standards. The bartender was an adorable petite girl with black hair (beautiful) and this had the makings of a wonderful evening. Then I handed the KJ my song slip and you know what he said? The Best Bartenders! A Great Night Out! Cool Vibe and Crowd! – This is not your regular karaoke bar. This place Rocks! It's like one big party. The crowd is friendly and the bartenders sing along with you. Whatever you sing, however you sing it, it all good. They even have buy one get one free happy hour with ping pong! How cool is that?

At $2 per song you would think that they would play them in the proper order, but the last time i was there i continually saw the karaoke guy shuffle my songs farther and farther back. Oi! Oi! Oi! – Warning: The consumption of alcohol may cause you to think you can sing. Fabulous fun with wonderful amazing people. If you really want to sing without a long wait, show up before 10pm. The songs are listed on a first come first serve basis, which is only fair. Why should I have to wait forever because you came late to the party? When can I sing?!!! – I was at Planet Rose the same night as the last reviewer and have a much different opinion of the experience. I was with a group of people celebrating a birthday - apparently there was another group of people there celebrating a birthday and they were the only ones who actually got to sing all the songs they requested.
