Dreamforce had consumed virtually every available room in San Francisco, so I landed at the Phoenix Hotel out of necessity. What began as a work trip compromise became a terrific discovery. The Phoenix is a two-story 1950s motor court on the edge of the Tenderloin, with rooms arranged around a central courtyard and swimming pool. I called to ask if I could reserve a room. When this rude gentleman answered and was profoundly making me seem dumb.

The beds/ pillows were comfortable. The shower was great, & the room was clean. The electric was not working next beds in the two rooms we were in. There's no coffee maker/micro/fridge in room. The hotel is old, yet updated. The walls/windows are thin, & we had trouble sleeping cuz of neighbors, doors, dog barking next door, & pool activity. Adding drywall, or sound boards would help. It's in the Tenderloin too, which is a sketchy, & dirty area.
