Phoenicia's Bakery is mainly known for its delectable groceries from around the world, offering a range of products from fresh olives to Middle Eastern spices. The bakery section stocks homemade pastries such as pistachio baklava and pistachio fleurets and many more delights. The deli though is the cherry on the proverbial cake, serving the freshest pita bread in town as well as lip-smacking falafel with hummus and tabouli salad. Ideal for breakfast lunch or dinner!

fun, little, hidden gem. very good food.
not too shabby – I came in to try their shwarma but was pleased to see a huge display of sweet goodies and aisles of ethnic groceries. the food is not too bad, but also nothing special. the grocery store is great. they seem to have a large variety of foods and the staff seems helpful too. Parking is quite a pain at the burnet location however.
One of the best things about Austin – I lived about 2 blocks from the South Lamar location, and I miss this place on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. The falafel is great, the schwarma is craving inducing, and stopped eating loaf bread with their pita in such close supply! Plus they sell Mars Bars(my fav!), confections, spices, olives, everything. It's all so good and at unbelievably good prices! I miss this place.
No longer anything special in my opinion – When I first started going to Phoenicia I felt they would warm to me as I shopped there regularly - That did not happen. The cashier seemed to take exception to your asking items be place into more than 1 bag! The deli will give you the dry end of the mortedella if you dont watch them. Add to that the parking lot where you must be agressive to get a spot and wait for self centered customers who move at their own pace - it has lost its apeal to me. Like many others I now go to Sarah'... read more
expired food, rude vendors – Phoenicia has the rudest salesperson in town (he is probably the owner at the same time!) I went there a few times to buy groceries and saw that some of the stuff they have had expired. I told them to the guy at the cashier, he did not believe in me, treated me as if i am lying. Since Sarah's Market opened recently, I never went back to Phoenicia. they have much more variety at Sarah's, store is cleaner and sales people are much more fiendly!
This Middle Eastern deli is known for its native specialties, pastries and sandwiches. – In Short Phoenicia is dominated by its grocery section, with large bakery cases and a takeout counter at opposite ends of the store. Hard-to-find Middle Eastern groceries, like pomegranate syrup for making Persian stew fesenjan, are just a fraction of Phoenicia's selections. Abundant bakery choices include homemade Persian candies and pastries and treats including chocolate-chunk peanut butter cookies and moist apricot strudel. Fresh bre... read more
Everything you need for Greek Cooking – Phoenecia has everything you need for middle eastern or greek cooking. While Austin has plenty of options for mexican fare, there aren't many other ethnic grocers in town. Phonecia fills a great need, and their prices are great considering the specialty items they carry. They also have very good pastries and premade items, and their olive bar is beyond amazing. I can re-create an authentic greek meal in the middle of Texas - fantastic!
Great Muffalata – This store is exactly what is needed in the culinarily bankrupt city. Full of hard-to find goods and great sandwiches and bakery items, Phoenicia may very well become one of my regular haunts.
Best mediterranean food in town – I've tried the shawarma, hummos, tabouli, and their fresh baked pita, all of which was some of the best I've had anywhere. Don't expect anything in the way of service, this is a bakery / grocery store first, deli second. There isn't much space, either. Despite these minor inconveniences, I highly recommend it here.
