I found Dr. Shumsky to be attentive and after I provided my records he devised a treatment plan. I had Botox injections for migraine headaches followed up with Facet Joint Injections ( no anesthesia) which hurt but worked . Trying to locate him as of 8/15/25… Dr. Shumsky where are you?
30 seconds into meeting the Doctor I was asked a rhetorical question because it seemed like he already had the answer of why I was wearing my polarized sunglasses indoors. I have severe light sensitivity and pretty much Wear my sunglasses everywhere even the grocery store. Yet , I was left wondering , why I was asked a question that had absolutely nothing to do with a pain management consultation? Made me feel judged and honestly uncomfortable. I went for help with debilitating pain and left belittled and bawling my eyes out. He automatically judged me for having tattoos and rudely questioned me about them. Would not listen to me as I'm trying to explain how debilitating my chronic pain is, he had no bedside manner! Told me even if he prescribed me tramadol which I know works for me he said I'd have to travel to his office once a month to drug test (a 10 hour trip) and wouldn't accept a urine test from my primary doctor's office. Most of my appointments lasted less than 90 seconds. I got a first opinion with a surgeon who told me surgery would not help my pain but may make it worse. This was 8 years into my pain journey and the surgey would have been for a new pinched nerve which was not what caused my pain and only started a few months prior. i agreed with the surgeon and stated i would not have a surgery that might increase my pain when i was already undermedicated and had no quality of life because of that. He unfortunately assumes he know you with 1 visit! Very judgemental. Doesn't mind giving non FDA approved medications. Please do your research before you commit to taking what he throws at you!
