FIRST TIME PROFESSIONAL FITTING – I looked this company up on the City Search and read some mixed reviews. I decided to give them a try anyway, and I was really satisfied with the service. I think dissatisfied people have a lot of energy to get rid of and they are more likely to spend time on something like this. If all of the ratings were perfect, I most likely wouldn't have taken the time to write a review, but I felt I should take the time because Petticoat Fair deserves some kudos!
Excellent service and amazing fit – I had been wearing 34/36C Victoria Secret and other bras for years. I had been fitted at VS and Nordstroms multiple times but was never really convinced about my size. I am small framed, 5'5 and 120 pounds, in my twenties, and have a larger chest than is "normal" for my size. I've had back pains caused by even the most expensive and "best" bras from Nordstroms and VS. Employee rolled her eyes at me in my wedding dress. Seriously. – I gave them such a low score because they were pushy and tried to sell me several items that were not what I wanted and worst of all, made me feel bad about my wedding dress. Stay away, there has to be something better out there. I bought an amazing vintage 1950's style wedding dress on ebay and went with my awesome 50's style bridesmaid dresses to find petticoats. Not helpful at all – I had heard wonderful things from friends about this place and was excited to go because as a 34F I can never find bras, let alone well fitting, pretty ones. Evidently I should have asked their cup size first because eventhough I was told by the manager I wear their most popular size I came out disappointed. The first woman who helped me, made sure they fit, but did not seem to recognize that larger cup sizes actually need support and that you will actually be wearing these bras under clothing. IF YOUR NOT SHOPPING HERE YOU'RE WEARING THE WRONG SIZE – This is the place to go to get fitted for bras! Most women don't realize they are wearing the wrong size bra. Once you come here you will never have that problem again. I wear a LARGE size and they don't even stock it in some styles...not to worry, they will special order it for me. I, also, have to have alterations done to most bras because i need a certain cup size and special "around" size...no problems there, either. I wouldn't go back – Unimpressive. My salesrep was sullen. After I told her my size, she gave me the current party-line that I needed to go one cup bigger and one band size smaller... only I accidentally told her my wrong size, so she quoted me a too-small size. Then, they don't carry sizes smaller than 34", so you have to get it custom-fit, which jacks up the price. The bra I ended up with is no better than a dept. store bra.
This place is The Lingerie Store. I don't even live in Austin anymore but when I come visit for Thanksgiving, etc. I always make it a point to shop here. Petticoat Fair has the most excellent customer service. Everyone who works there is highly professional. They fit you to your exact measurements (just like a tailor) and keep your perfect size on file for future visits. Items are more expensive than what you'd find at Victoria Secret but trust me--it's well worth the cost.
never a bad time found here – I have shopped this place since 1992... I am a 38F and you just cant find a bra anywhere else unless you mail order those ugly ones your gramma wore. I have even had help getting strappless there that FITS. I had a formal occassion & no bra... took in the evening gown, walked out very happy and secure in knowing that fit and fashion were not mutually exclusive terms. Thanx so much, and I will be by again as soon as I return to Austin... I do not buy my bras anywhere else, or my swimsuits.
Wow, finally, a bra that FITS! – I have *never* had an issue with rude service at Petticoat Fair... I love the fact you can go in and sign up for your very own person to assist you, they are knowledgeable about fitting and styles, the shop carries sizes for those of us who can't just hit WalMart for a bra ...
