Dr Petro is an AMAZING oncologist. I met him while an inpatient at Shadyside and I chose him to treat me. I am so glad I did. His personality is wonderful. He is very helpful and when he explained things, he made sure that I understood everything. He also was very encouraging, even if my situation wasn't the best. He gave me hope and made me feel that I did have a chance. He made me feel that I had it in me to fight and that we would fight this battle together, until we couldn't. Extremely kind man who took the time to talk to my family with compassion and caring and didn’t make you feel rushed or stupid. His empathy is evident as is his knowledge.
My sister is a patient of Petros. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in February 2023. The cancer mestastised to her brain. Since september she has been in and out of UPMC Shadyside. They cant get the brain swelling down.I think these drs are awful! In 2023 they cant get brain swelling down. My sister is fighting for her life.She's been in the hospital for a month. Still cant get any answers. If you have cancer do yourself a favor. Dont go to UPMC Shadyside. Update: my sister passed away December 28th 2023 from sepsis.This D... read more
