This doctor gave me a thorough exambut did not order any testing. He advised me to continue to push through the pain I was experiencing, and said that my symptoms were “functional” essentially all in my head. The advice to push through the pain made me much sicker.I eventually found a specialist who gave me a correct diagnosis. However I can’t help my wonder how much better my health would be now if I hadn’t gone to that appointment with Dr. Richardson.

Visits with Dr. Richardson have been professional & effective. His administration of Migraine shots to the skull is as comfortable as the procedure can be, and he is quick and efficient. Likewise, he works with a patient to find the best protocols for a condition. What is NOT effective is the method his practice uses to schedule Migraine shots. One cannot do this at check-out or electronically, and patients must telephone an entirely different number AFTER a doctor's visit. A message must then be left to request a call-back.... read more

Dismissive, and a poor diagnostician of atypical presentations of diseases within his field. He's probably fine if you are a textbook case.

Dr. Richardson was the first neurologist I saw after moving to DC. He failed to diagnose and treat a condition that I had already been diagnosed shortly before moving to DC. During my initial consultation he said my symptoms could not be explained by said condition. He refused to run testing to rule the condition in or out. During subsequent visits, and as my illness progressed, he admitted that I "might" have a "mild" case. He still did not run any diagnostic testing. Dr. Richardson took plenty of time to listen to my symptoms, complete a very thorough neurological exam, compare the results to a prior exam and explain very clearly his conclusions and recommendations for follow-up tests. I was greatly impressed with the time and attention that he gave me.

Richardson is incompetent. My encounter with him doubled my pain. He plainly does not know what he is doing.

This was a 2nd opinion visit for me& he took on the same attitude as the previous physician I saw within another health system. His demeanor, word choice & tone made me feel like I was a waste of his time. The visit started with a medical student assessing me. No problem there except I wasn't asked if I was ok with it by anyone. Following a 15 min wait I saw the doctor. I wasn't impressed with his lack of assessment and time spent with me followed by a curt "good luck" as he walked out the door

Perry K Richardson, MD, a tenured faculty member at the GWU School of Medicine and a Doctor in the truest sense of the word has proven, in virtue of my case, that there are times in doctoring when the pen is mightier than the stethoscope. The extraordinary report he wrote following a consultation for chronic pain/central sensitization phenomena from 6 concurrent WC orthopaedic injuries so impressed 3 Virginia Judges that same ORDERED the carrier to authorize fixing my R-shoulder, L-SIJ & L-hip.
