This was my first time eating at Perlas. Decor inside was clean and simple. White table clothes and good service. Our waiter was prompt, coureous and knowledgable. The salt and pepper Calamari was some of the best I have had. Fresh, light, not greasy with 2 delicious sauces to choose. The oysters on the half were small but tasty. Again with choice of crackers, real horse radish and fresh cocktail sauce. Last we had the crab louie with fried green tomato. Fresh crab and creamy avacado together in a yummy mix. Top this all off... read more
Come here for the patio, people watching and daily frozen cocktail made with fresh fruit and premium liquor. Oh yeah and the oysters!
Never going back – I will never return to Perlas. We went here for dinner and was tolld no tables available, but we were 1st on the waiting list. While we waited on the patio a table opened and we waited a quite few minutes. Finally I went to ask hostess if we could be seated and was told that they decided to give that table to some other customers who came in after we were placed on the waiting list. I spoke to the manager and did not feel that they really cared if we were offended. We walked to Gueros and got good service ... read more
Wonderful atmosphere, extraordinary food, overall a great pl – For my wife and I one year anniversary we visited Perla’s and it was amazing. The ambiance was romantic, and set the mood for entire evening. Their website has an online reservation service and it was simple to use. We ordered several appetizers including oysters on the half shell, of which I had fifteen varieties to choose from, Grilled Octopus & Papas Bravas, it was to die for, so tasty and tender. We also had New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp, with Oak Grilled Ciab... read more
photo Disingenuous meal times – Watch what time you go, because there's a dead spot thirty minutes before the change. We arrived at 2:45p on a Saturday and were told that the kitchen had closed, even though they advertise on their website and on a sign in front of the restaurant "Brunch 11a-3p." Also, we were told that we couldn't sit in the restaurant side. We had to sit over in the bar area. Once we sat down, we were given the bar menu, which is still very full of goodies to eat. Our waiter came over and asked us if we wan... read more
Great service on a hot day! – We stopped at Perla's after searching for seafood restaurants on my iPhone. The Monday after July4th was hot but their patio was cool. The service was friendly and fast. I wanted crab legs but they didn't have this item on their lunch menu. Our waiter checked with the kitchen and my crab legs were served with the entire meal. Shells and Cheese is good stuff too... order up a bowl!
Came to celebrate but disappointed – The family was taking my son out for a congratulatory dinner for getting a job in the area. This was my 2nd time for Perla's. Atmosphere is great, wait staff was great, but the crispy snapper was not. I love the Veracruz fish entree but the snapper was suggested instead. The fish did not look like snapper and did not taste fresh at all. My daughter and I wanted to split a salad so the waitress offered to split it for us. She neglected to tell us there would be an charge for splitting the ... read more
Citysearch Editorial Review – Taking up prime real estate on South Congress, this upmarket seafood restaurant has carved out sweet little niches for cozy dates-- patrons can choose from the shady, languid patio, the snug bar, or the dining room booths. Though fresh, local ingredients are a focus, the well-rounded menu also incorporates stars from many top coastal regions, like Alaskan Halibut and Maine lobster. As the Gulf ties Texas to New Orleans, both regions get shout-outs, too. Like a steakhouse, sides like lobster stoc... read more
Not much – Went for Happy Hour, .50c off oysters, still $18/dz, very limited beer and wine selection. The calamari was good. No sour dough bread only had hush puppies. Bill was $79 + tip. Pretty dam expensive considering we left and went to Eddie V's, had drinks, shrimp and crab cakes and lotsa delicious sour doug bread for only $49 + tip.
