My favorite place in Boone! We've been going here for about 10 years whenever we head up to the High Country. I love getting the salad bar and French onion soup. You know it's good soup if you need sissors to cut the stringy cheese! The Reuben is also excellent. Come early during peak times, as there is often a wait.
Good food, slow service We have always thought the food here is very good- one of the best places in the high country to go for soup and sanwhiches. But every time we go there, the service is very slow. Even at lunch, it always takes 30 minutes to an hour for our food to come out. It's worth the wait if you want to sit and relax, but if your in a hurry then good luck.
Good! Had a bad experience the night I went with some of the staff, however the server made up for it! Delicious food the majority of the staff is experienced and knows how to serve. Try the Peppers' sub served hot, it is delish!
Known to help expectant mother's go into labor! Yep- the Jean (Gene?) Lawson's Special has a reputation in Boone of helping expectant mothers go into labor- seriously! Turkey with pepperjack cheese. Their reuben is amazing, french dip is second fave- wonderful soups and amazing curly fries. I'm hungry!
