I am so grateful to Dr. Chao and her skilled staff! After I broke my nose (for a second time- ugh!!), she was kind enough to squeeze me in and see me the very same day. From the moment I walked in, she was warm, compassionate, and reassuring. Her exam was extremely thorough, and she took the time to explain everything clearly so I understood my options. Please don’t go here if you are a student or have any concerns with your insurance. I left with a $2000 bill and no treatment. That is how much Penn medicine charges for out-of-pocket costs for a simple diagnostic endoscopy (camera scoping the nose). They won’t tell you that up front. If you have any kind of student insurance plan, your procedure is likely not covered AT ALL. They will consider the procedure elective. Insurance and the front desk here will NOT give you clear answers on how much you will actually be charged, ... read more

My experience at Penn otorhinolaryngology was excellent. In addition to being approachable, each provider I saw was focused on the issue I presented to them and each was calm and logical. For a patient those are the attributes of an ideal interaction with a health care provider.
