We have been going to Penn Animal for over 7 years and have been extremely pleased with their expertise, professionalism and services. I have one sort of difficult dog who they don't shy away from and totally know how to deal with and handle. Their morning walk in hours have helped me tremendously over the years and at this point, I probably won't be going anywhere else. I just wish I was a little closer. They only do necessary testing and don't try and run up a huge bill. I highly recommend them. I truly don't understand wh... read more

I have been taking my pets there for many years now. Last year, my elderly dog contracted Lyme disease. Most dogs respond to treatment within a few days. My old boy never responded and needed to be euthanized after 3 weeks. Dr. Joe phoned me nearly every day to ask about the dog's progress. He made multiple changes to treatment, but my dog was the rare untreatable case. When the time came to say goodbye, it meant so much to me that one of the vets had tried so hard to cure my dog and had helped him stay as comfortable as pos... read more
Do not take your animal here if you are looking for compassionate and professional care. I brought my cat here twice, presenting the same symptoms both times and was told by the Doctor that she was not "that sick" and that we would "never know" what was wrong with her. While I absolutely know that it is tough to diagnose cats, when I asked questions like "What are the options of what this could be and what are next steps?" the Doctor was visibly frustrated and provided no further help. I'm not sure my cat's outcome would hav... read more
Caring, gentle and extremely knowledgeable.
Everyone here is so caring.
I took my dog there today and it was amazing. Dr.cohn was so great. He was honest about options and really was sincere. He treated my dog as if she was his. Will never go anywhere else! The prices were mind blowingly cheap and I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of.
I'm one to never do this!!! But I just think others should know. What nice people they have that work there.and explain things very well.
A 2014 Shout Out! We have been taking our dog to Penn Animal in the Strip District for 3.5 years, recommended by family after another vet told us our dog (then a puppy) had a hereditary condition, suggesting costly x-rays to determine severity. The vets at Penn Animal never suggested this condition and our dog is healthy at 3.5 years old! They are conservative, professional, caring. They provide inexpensive services without compromising quality and care!
