The communication in this department is the absolute worst I have ever seen. I spoke with Laura Jenkins, who said she’d send a prior authorization to my son’s insurance (UPMC For You) about his genetic testing. I informed her I have tried to do the swab test before, but it didn’t get us far because my son doesn’t get enough saliva. We agreed to get blood work so that his testing can be done properly. This department has been the worst experience I have ever had with a medical unit. It is understandable there is a lot of red tape to get testing approved. However, following a test, my family has received no results or contact for months. We have contacted the unit multiple times by phone and email with zero response. We cannot even get someone on the phone. Even when we informed them via email this delay was holding up care, they still did not respond to any messaged.
