I've been seeing Dr. Melchert for about 15 years and have always recommended him until recently. He is too quick to prescribe prescription drugs rather than normal lifestyle chenges. A friend whom I receommended him to recently, said she felt like he was treating her as a statistic instead of her personally.
Worst experience I have ever had! Dr. Melchert asked me questions about medicines I was on and my past medical history, as he should during a routine physical. Although my physical was covered 100%, weeks later I received a bill for an additional office visit. Apparently, my past medical history was outside of the scope of a routine physical, so I was billed for two visits. His office staff has been completely replaced and is awful now. I requested a prescription refill and heard nothing for a week. I tried to call to follow up and I would get put on hold for up to 20 minutes at a time, with nobody ever checking in or actually picking up the line. I had to go to their office and finally find out that Dr Melchert decided he had to see me (aka get money for an office visit out of me) before I could get the medication that I’d already been given in the past. Dr. Melchert is a great doctor. My issue is for work I have to complete a physical exam. I call to schedule the exam on 10/1/2019, and the earliest I can get in is December! He's my primary care physician, but getting an appointment scheduled timely is nearly impossible.
I was very disappointed in Melchert as a Primary MD. He comes across in a arrigant way. He recommends various testing far to fast. He ignores whether or not your health plan will cover the test. Recently I asked Lauren his assistant to draft a letter for me to present to a Insurance school that I was taking classes for. Due to my recent bout with a lung infection I have been unable to do the course work necessary to be tested. The letter was to serve as a request for more time. She never sent it
Would NOT recommend this dr to anyone! If ever out of town due to emergency situations & caught w/o ur blood pressure meds needing refilled he refuses to refill any meds without u coming in regardless of emergency cancer surgery my husband was having! Too bad for you! Does not take genuine interest in patient!
Uncaring and extremely duplicitous. Has an attitude that's a cross between a conman and a sanitation worker. I pity his patients. If you're looking for a professional, caring, and honest doctor, look elsewhere.
