Overpriced pasta pit....... – This place lacks basic Customer Service skills, the waiter we had was very domineering, controlling and rigid, not one smile, the entire duration of the torture session. Add this place to the ever growing list of Lousy Houston restaurants. Food was overpriced. I recommend anyone going out to eat in Houston to bring their Attorney to read the fine print in the menu. It's going to come down to a very few restaurants that are worth the money for the food you get here in Houston. Spend your money wis... read more

best real italian food in town – Best Real Italian food in town! Houston's best kept secret. Food is amazing, comfy feeling inside, great atmosphere, wonderful staff. Not to mention Italian family owned and operated. Could not get any better.

What Fun! – This restaurant is a real gem! It's an old house on a side street off Washington and feels very comforatble. The surprise is in the food. Where you would expect just traditional dishes, the menu knocks it up to the level of all those talked-about strip mall Italian places. The Striped Bass is heaven, and you might want to do double orders of the Asparagus Risotto and make it a meal. Our waiter was all charm and mentioned we should go see the gardens out back as that's where a lot of their vegetables come from. Ho... read more

Bad parking, expensive food, – Parking: I was stucking between a rock and a hard place, almost literally, as my choices were either the corner of a gravel lot or about two blocks away down Jackson Hill. Ambiance: Excellent. Matches the exterior of the place, as well as the neighborhood. Very cozy, homey feel. When I first walked in, I thought it would be a great place for a date, and I wasn't the only person to think that, judging by all the couples dining there. Drinks: Good eclectic wine menu. Tried a few Italian wines tha... read more

Hidden Gem in Rice Military – We went there with family to celebrate the birth of my child! He was only two weeks old and the helpful staff found us a table out of drafts and in the quietest corner of the restaurant. We started with Sammy's eggplant appetizer and it was amazing...Sammy came out himself to ask how we liked it! Then we had a family sized salad where most of the ingredients came from the restaurant's own garden! The specials all sounded so mouthwatering we all had to discuss what we were each getting so we coul... read more

Try the pistachio gelato! – Ditto the other great 5-star comments. Try their homemade pistachio gelato for dessert. It really is out of this world!

Absolutely Incredible! – Although not in the best of neighborhoods, Patrenella's serves delicious Italian favorites with (literally) a wonderful homey atmosphere. You dine in the rooms of the owner's home, surrounded by pictures of locals and family. The service is top-notch- first time customers are treated as welcome friends. Be sure to check out the new bar in the back of the building and beautiful garden.

Sixth Ward stronghold for family tested Italian recipes and cozy, lingering dinners. – In Short Inside this charming renovated house in the Heights (once the owner's childhood home), more than 15 years of customers have been coming to family-owned Patrenella's. The atmosphere is inviting and reflects the menu of hearty, comforting favorites. Sample homemade sausage or Sammy's fried eggplant appetizer. Entrée selections include veal dishes, chicken, sautéed shrimp and hearty salads. Pastas gravitate toward classics like lasag... read more

My favorite place for Italian! – This wonderful, family owned, restauant is one of my family's favorite places for dinner. Birthdays, anniversarys, coming home parties - you name it, and we've celebrated it with the Petranella family. Chef Andre' is one of the best in the city - he'll make you anything you want. Chicken Marsala is one of my favorites. Try it - you won't be disappointed.
