Sat at the bar service was great, food was great, bbq oysters are as good maybe better than Drago’s, fresh fish filet is so fresh I think they have lines in the water behind the restaurant, gumbo is unbelievable the best I’ve had in years. If your in the area you have to stop, no you must stop by!
Wonderful shrimp platter, seafood gumbo was spot on and the poboy was pressed ad it poboys should be. No wait, greeted and quickly sat, server was prompt, professional, courteous and food/drink as we ordered. Great prices...you will need a carry out!

I’ve been here twice and both times the food was great. The étouffe cat fish dish was tasty and perfect. They have the best grilled oysters. I live out of state and visit whenever I’m in town.
We’re from Seattle on holiday and after two days of enjoying New Orleans, we decided to visit Baton Rouge in search of plain old good southern cooking. I found Parrain’s and it wasn’t just good; it was great! The appetizers :crawfish & crab au gratin lived up to its reviews and the fried alligator which I ordered “blackened” was very good! One of my favorite seafood restaurants around. The BBQ Drum is out of this world.
Best catfish I’ve ever tasted — so light and fresh! Got a little sick after, not sure if it was the spicy spice on our shrimp app or the fried food. Would go back, it tasted that good!
