Why is this place so popular? – Lots of wait time for average food and a noisy ambiance. Breakfast is decent but stay away from the larger dinners. Chicken was burned and Tai noodles were spaghetti and peanut butter. There are MUCH better places to eat in the inner sunset.
Comfort at a Great Value – Park Chow is a comfortable place, not too loud, and yet bustling with activity and warm family-like ambiance. The food is delicious and reminiscent of childhood favorites, but with a cosmopolitan twist. One of my favorites.
Way Over Rated – Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was casual. The food was just flat-out disappointing. I do not understand why this place gets consistently good reviews. Save your money and spend it somewhere else.
great food, reasonbly priced! San Francisco, as we all know, is a very expensive city. Thank goodness for Park Chow. Park Chow has reasonably priced food, and the portions are filling. Their waitstaff is EXCELLENT (super friendly), and the atmosphere is cozy. The desserts and drinks are also very good (a must have is the ginger cake with pumpkin ice cream). Sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but it's worth it for this great comfort food.
Comfort food, taste good? Not necessarily. – Have tried Chow about 3-4x over the years and always disappointed. Why this place garnishes rave reviews by some and makes it on the 2005 SF Chronicle Top 100 list, is beyond me. The caesar salad was good but not an authentic caesar dressing. The seafood cioppino had a couple of mussles which tasted spoiled. The polenta was good. The Thai chicken noodle was spicy, tangy and watery. When it arrived, I thought it was another pasta dish served in soup. The minnestrone soup was pretty... read more
Nice Restuarant Park Chow is conveniantly located on 9th ave and has a great little atmosphere, whether it be inside by the fireplace, or upstairs on the deck with the heat lamps, the place is cozy!!
a perennial favorite – When I'm craving something better than cheap eats and something less than dining out in earnest, I head straight for Chow or Park Chow. I haven't gone wrong here yet, and neither have any of my friends, but my personal mainstays are the pork chops with polenta and the ginger cake with pumpkin ice cream. The place is constantly packed, but the service is always cheerful and attentive, and I've rarely waited more than a few minutes (admittedly I'm usually in a group of 2-4). Tips: Park on Lincoln alongsi... read more
Cheap But Bad Food!!! – The pasta is terrible it felt and tasted like a big glob of glue. also there is no service to speak of.
My "home away from home" SF restaurant – I wind up eating more lunches and dinners at Park Chow than any other restaurant while in San Francisco. It's cozy, casual, great food, cheerful service, and can't beat the value!
