Chain tasting all the way and a lousy BBQ sauce too.
Save the BBQ!! – They should have kept the sauce and beans recipes from Luther's The meats are bland but passable. The beans are terrible. The real problem is the sauce. This sauce is just awful!! It is WAY too sweet (like pure molasses) and swimming in grease. This is not Texas style BBQ sauce. If you eat here, order the sauce on the side. Trust me, you don't want this sauce touching your meat. It's better without it. I see that the Willowbrook store closed down. Think they will get the hint and fix the sauce before they al... read more
Great BBQ for a lunch group – With lots of great BBQ places in the area I had never tried Pappas. Of course had heard about it and finally got the chance with some office buddies. Cafeteria style ordering, but the line wasn't that long at noon time and the service was quick. They provide a daily special and the normal options: sandwiches, sausage, beef, chicken and ribs. The side options were typical as well from what I could tell. I had chopped beef sandwhich with a green salad. The other orders at my table were chicken and... read more
Bad sauce! – We usually only frequent the small, independent BBQ joints since they invariably and handily beat the chains on BBQ quality. Plus they usually have 'character' as a bonus. But today (Sunday) Pappas on I-45 across from The Woodlands was the closest open BBQ place. and she wanted some BBQ right NOW. lol. Service, like many BBQ joints, is cafeteria style. Very friendly and chatty servers. Big serve-yourself condiment island with all the trimmings possible. She got the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of potato s... read more
Not worth going to – I have tried many top Bar B Q places around the state and this is the worst tasting out of any place I have every been. I am not sure what they use for sauce but it tastes terrible.
OK Food, Horrible Service – I love BBQ and unfortunately this is the closest BBQ joint I know of close to where I live and work. I've been there maybe 5 times total since moving to Houston Nov 08. Three horrendous experiences overall, the other two were not stellar but tolerable. One experience I actually stood in the "line area" and yelled "AM I F#$@ING INVISIBLE!!" There's no deliniation as to a to-go line or a eat-in line. The staff is horrendous, the manager acts like he doesn't care. They have a menu that when you call ... read more
BEST PORK BBQ – Delicious.
Had Better – Well, I will say the meat was well seasoned and had a pretty good smoked flavor. With that being said, the bbq sauce was utterly disappointing, the lack of flavor and seasoning was enough to make this my first and last visit to Pappas. "Meaning that if mulch had a taste this sauce would be the equivalent".
only average – Sauce was too sour for my taste. Portions where generous and good selection of them
