Great Italian dishes, red wine and cozy atmosphere. Penne with mushrooms and perfect gnocchi.

Food was just ok. Nothing really was amazing for the price. But the real icing on the cake was the sneaky waiter adding on 20% tip to our bill because he knew he gave us less than decent service! I totally understand big groups having it added but we were a family consisting of husband, wife and 3 kids (13,15, & 21). Not cool! We have had some great meals in Charleston but this wasn't one of them.
Everybody raved about this place, so I guess I just chose a bad dish. It was lousy. I had had casoncelli in Italy s few months ago, and so when I saw it here I got very excited. This was barely-filled ravioli in a "butter sauce" tgatvremondef me of when you leave a greasy potato soak in hot water...a grease slick on top of the dishwater. Located downtown. Great atmosphere, staff and menu. Ordered the braised lamb shank. Cooked to perfection. Large wine selection. I highly recommend!
