Dr. Mayer performed a hernia repair w/ mesh 7 years ago. After complaining of pain and a bulge in my gut, he refused to see me. I learned later this bulge is an incisional hernia and the only thing holding my intestines in is the mesh and or scar tissue. The mesh is supposed to reinforce the abdominal wall not be the wall. I hoped in time and by targetted stomach exercises the hernia would grow together. It hasn't and I highly suspect the inflammation and pain from the mesh has also caused constipation and IBS issues. Unfortunately I didn't got a chance to deal with the doctor but his assistant are not doing there job!
Dr. Mayer has horrible bedside manner. And most of the office staff were difficult to work with, unhelpful and sometimes downright condescending, assuming I managed to get past all the runaround they gave. After my surgery, I was having a hard time. I knew something was wrong and the problems I was having weren't normal.
