What a refreshing place to have breakfast if you are north of Austin. It does NOT look like a run down IHOP at all, though it IS in a strip mall. We did have a waitress that had been working there a long time, information which she volunteered and she said she LOVES working at OPH and it showed on her face and in her attitude. Anyhoo..... Love this place! – It's worth driving up here to eat the yummiest pancakes around....the orange juice is fresh (not Tropicana) and the prices are on the down low. Amazing food for not much dough! Love it!
SCRUMPTIOUS Pancakes – The Austin location was clean and the staff friendly. The food was hot and tasty. This was my first visit but certainly not my last!
Amazing Pancakes – Restaurant was clean and we were quickly seated. There are a lot different pancakes to choose from. I had the chocolate chip pancakes and could have continued eating them until I passed out. They were like heaven.
Has the Original Flavor – We were craving pancakes today and the wife mentioned "Original Pancake House, (us being from Portland) and not knowing there was one here in Austin. I knew better and so we went. Service was good, coffee, pancakes and dutch baby tasted pretty much exactly like the "Original" Original Pancake House in Portland. Wonderful breakfast – I was born and raised in Portland, OR where the original pancake house was first started. I was a little skeptical to try the one in Austin because i didn't want to be disapointed (the on in portland is the best breakfast i have ever had, ever!). There were a few little differences (the quality of butter is not very good here and they don't use actual cream for ther coffee) but overall the food is just as good as in Portland and it is cheaper here!! So Many Pancakes...How Do I Choose? – There's nothing fancy about the decor but the menu has some special dishes. My favorite are the banana pancakes. The service was fast, the food was good and the price was right.
The best breakfast in town period – Anytime I am coming to Austin I plan my trip to allow enough time to stop in for the best breakfast in town. I can not think of any time we have been disappointed with the food or service
Excellent Pancakes --Great Specials During The Week – When I was growing up, I hated the pancakes my mother made from Bisquick, however I love the pancakes here--especially the buttermilk pancakes --so light. I come during the week for the specials. It's cheaper and the restaurant isn't as busy as it is on the weekends. I've never had the coffee here. I drink Anderson's coffee at home. Breakfast at The Original Pancake House never costs more than $6.00 for me, because I take advantage of the specials during the week.
