I know there are really no “good” mail in pharmacies but Optum RX demands an “F” in every major interaction with policy holders: (1) the AI, voicemail answering system is almost impenetrable (2) When you get through to discuss a denial of coverage, guess what, you are in India (3) the Indian “advocates,” what a BS public relations term, just drop the call. My mother's chemo refill was supposed to have been delivered today Friday. I received two phone calls from Optum and a text message at 2:00 p.m. letting me know that the prescription was on its way to be delivered to my address. By 4:30 when it wasn't delivered I spent about half an hour talking to the representatives for them to let me know that unfortunately they couldn't get anyone to deliver it. It took over three months of getting monkeyed around daily, to finally receive the Lupron (a cancer drug) that we have been taking for 5 years. We had just switched to this place, and the pharmacy completely misinformed my insurance when doing the prior authorization, leading to a formal review, denials, appeals, and lengthy delays. I simply cannot not say something positive about OptumRX except that they are 100% unreliable and guaranteed any interactions with them will increase your blood pressure.
If I could give negative stars I would. Even with documentation, they still believe they know what's best for patients and disregard what physicians say in order to save money, placing patients lives at risk.
