One if by Land, Two if by Sea embodies romance, featuring piano music, flowers, fireplaces, balcony seating and dim lighting. It is a favorite spot for marriage proposals and special occasions. The signature dish is Beef Wellington wherein the filet mignon is wrapped in sumptuous pastry dough. The desserts and the extensive wine list are also worth inspecting.

If you propose here...your a jackass – This is the kind of place that looks authentic through the window but when you get in you'll see that it resembles more of a 1970's basement refurbish ( with faux brickwork and sheetrock walls that were done over) than an intimate late 1700's eatery. Disneyland does a better job of recreating the era. The bartender was nice, but the waiter was an absentee drone who could care less if we were alive. The food was decent but of course completely overpriced...unfortunately the service and a... read more
pretty-romantic-overprised place – we came here for our anniversary, it was thanksgiving night, so we didn't expect we could get a table - but we actually did, and it was not a bad location at all - close to the summer garden and by the wall ( i hate to sit in the middle of the room) we were given a table in 3 min, the servers and the waiter were very friendly and attentive. The battery in camera died, so we asked if the waiter could help us out - and he took our pictures with his camera and e-mailed them to us later on - I ... read more
Best desserts in New York!!! – We were recently at One if By Land... and had a fantastic dinner. The dessert course was the absolute best. It was my date's birthday and they brought out extra desserts for us to sample. The gianduja mousse was ethereal, chocolaty, and not cloyingly sweet. The banana bread ice cream had phenomenal flavor. The almond milk panna cotta was a fascinating study in textures and flavors, pairing side by side strawberry soda, lychee sorbet, strawberry tapioca, and strawberries and lychees. This is the... read more
Most Romantic – it is one of the most romantic places in NYC. The food is great and the wait staff is very knowledgeable. The desserts are amazing as well. It is worth going there just for desserts, the chocolate one is a MUST! It is home made and is unbelievably good ! If you want to impress someone, that is the place to go but be prepared to pay a lot.
Top Romantic Restaurant – I came here with my boyfriend for Restaurant Week and was truly impressed. It has a great ambiance, excellent service and amazing food. The restaurant is dimly lit and has a piano player on site. It looks like an old castle inside with old oil paintings on the wall. For all the food we got, I love every single dish from the tangerine salad, red snapper to my citrus creme brulee. They also gave us a sample cauliflower soup on the house and it was delish!
OMG! So romantic – I love this place! I first came here for a restaurant week deal. I felt this was the best deal out of the restaurant week special. The ambiance was great. the service was good. It was so romantic, I wish I was there with a boyfriend or husband. I want to always go back and try their pre-fixe menu for $78 per person.
dated food, fishy seafood, beautiful room – Went on a monday night and had the tasting menu. It's true, you shouldn't order fish on a monday (at least at One if by Land) first course; hamachi, fishy, slimy, overly salty and otherwise inedible. Next was a dorado, fishy, uninspired. So far off to a bad, if not nauseating start. Fois Gras, hard to mess this one up.. it was pleasant and as expected. Main course; beef wellington, probably the most popular dish here, it was all over the menu, it was adequate, if under-flavored. De... read more
Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience – When my boyfriend and I stepped into this restaurant, we immediately felt transported into a different, romantic, old world era. What was previously a stable for horses has since been transformed into a most beautiful dining room complete with crackling fire place and baby grand piano. Amidst the tuxedoed servers, we felt like characters straight out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. The service was highly attentive without being intrusive. The food was truly unforgettable. great hidden find! – I had originally made a Saturday reservation for two for my wife's birthday. However, an emergency came up and we had to reschedule our dinner. The restaurant was very accomodating and was able to give us a reservation two days in advance. Although we arrived an hour early, they were able to seat us right away anyway! The decor is very lovely, and adds a classic appeal to its ambiance. We ordered scallops for our appetizer, and the duck and beef wellingtons for our entrees. The scallops and ducks were FA... read more
