Forget that place My wife worked there for about nine months and I was surprised to find out Old Wives' Tales owner is notorious for creating a hostile work environment and has been known to be verbally abusive to her staff. Most of the food (including the pancakes!) is microwaved. The produce is of very low quality considering the outrageous prices. They should have stuck a fork in that place a long time ago!

The food was over priced for the tiny portions and horrible bland food! I would reccomend that you should not hold a party or a gathering at owt cause the service is horrible and they except you to pay them a large tip that they did not deserve, cook or the waiters. The waiters were rude to the questions we had and looked at us like we were dumb. when asked upon to get a drink twice! the drink never came but we were still charged. They added the 20% tip to our bill and they did not deserve it what so ever. when we left a tip... read more

Staff Hates Kids – I know that sounds sooo harsh, but as soon as my family walked in OWT this evening, the staff got chilly and scowling. Our actual waiter was fine but the rest of the staff glared at us and whispered comments then would snicker in our direction. Finally, the lady who seemed to be in charge said audibly but to a co-worker, "a no-loud-kids rule" but my kids were playing in the play area! Laughing! Although I wasn't because the play area was stinky and obviously dirty. Foodwise, it's bland and overpriced, ever... read more

Old Wives Tail should know better, Rude Rude Rude I ate at this restaurant three weeks ago and I am still dealing with flashbacks, lets start with the a the menu, what a nightmare, the prices are inconsistent on the menu an item on one page is $4.00 flip a page the same ingredients are now $10.00 just a little lipstick on the pig. a five page menu is truly overwhelming. Now to the owner, Holly who I made a point of getting her name,as all I heard during my meal was her yelling at the staff she never quit her verbal barrage wa... read more

I WOULD RATHER EAT AT MCDONALD'S – I would give this place less than a star, but I don't know how. food is bland. decor is bland. general atmosphere is bland. waiter was nice...then he left and was replaced with a bland individual. prices were really high too. salad bar was bland. basically don't go here. I cook all the time and I am better at it than the folks at old wive's tale. we should have stayed at home and eaten rocks instead of spending 21 dollars for bland burritos.

A wonderful gluten-free restaurant I love this restaurant!! It's so great to go into a restaurant that has gluten-free items, and everyone is so nice. One of my favorite places to eat when I go to Portland every six months.

Never disappointed! Best of Portland's eclectic restaurants! Incredibly varied menu. Very casual atmosphere. I agree that their signature piece is the Hungarian mushroom soup. I am not a soup person but really like this dish. Vegan to bacon -- you decide

On the boat to flavor town. If you have not had their Hungarian Mushroom Soup, you are missing the boat to flavor town. I am not a vegetarian. But if I want to eat vegetarian, this is were I go with my vegetarian friends. Just pick up some soup to go... you'll be hooked too. All their food is outstanding, service is great, beverage choices are fabulous, prices are great, and... what else do you want?
