The Old City Cemetery stands as one of the most significant historical cemetery sites in the Lynchburg city of the U.S. State of Virginia. It is spread over a massive 26 acres (11 hectares) of land area. The ancient cemetery site was erected and established in 1806. Due to its immense monumental value, the site is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. One of my favorite places in Lynchburg. I volunteer here on Mondays so stop in and visit. We have many interesting points of interest and beautiful flowers. Bring your lunch and enjoy the scenery while you relax, or take a turn on our swing. You won't be sorry you came.
Magnificent and breathtaking! Must visit just about any time of year, especially in Spring and early Summer when all of the flowers are in all their glory!

A beautiful, historic cemetery, nestled in the downtown section of Lynchburg, Virginia. Lovely antique roses abound! The main feature is the Confederate burial section with over 2200 marked graves of Civil War soldiers, buried in neat rows. A very tranquil setting for a quiet walk or to just explore the grounds. Highly recommend a visit!
