I hadn't been to the dentist for awhile and when I came in my gums were in bad shape. The dentist was helpful in showing me how to brush my teeth properly to address this issue, but was over-vigorous in his application. My gums are raw where he brushed them. They are all scratched and roughed up; their texture is roughed up. I am afraid more bacteria can bread on a surface that is scratched than on a smooth surface like your gum is supposed to be.
