I was in the ER the other night with flu like symptoms. I had been trying to get my fever down for over 24 hours with no results. They did blood work, urine test, and swabs for strep and the flu. Even though the tests all came back negative they still treated me for the flu. They pumped me full of antibiotics, gave me 2 bags of fluids, and gave me 3 other oral medications to break my fever while I was there. I was brought in the E.R. @ St. Anne Ochsners because while helping secure a garage for a friend, the railing of the garage door met the top of my head with great force. As my wife gave the receptionist my info and our story of what happened a nurse with a wheel chair took me into a room. Blood was pouring out of my head. Within what seemed like a few seconds, the nurse came in, gave me a shot (tetanus) cleaned me up, and Dr. Walfort came in. He told me I had cut an artery, which is why I was bleeding so much.
