I am extremely disappointed by how an elderly patient was treated while trying to pay his hospital bill. He has suffered a stroke and simply asked whether there was a discount for paying in cash. Instead of answering him respectfully, the employees laughed at him and embarrassed him. When they told him his bill was $1,000, he explained that it was actually $100 and that he had the money with him. Please note: If you have a disabled child or loved one on medicaid, general surgery at Oschner we were told, does not accept medicaid. Head to Baptist if you think there is that possibility of needed surigal admission requiring general surgery. Just trying to save you people precious time when your loved one is acutely ill after E.R visit. But, the E.R. staff is really great and kind. Not their fault.
