I graduated in 1977. The transformation of the school was truly amazing. We were so jealous. There is an elevator and Central air! Believe me we ran up and down those steps a lot. There is two gyms, a chapel, the cafeteria is awesome a theater and an audioturim. The school still rocks. Thanks for the tour.

Oakland Catholic High School has been my second home since 1992. It's not a job for me and more than a career. It's a vocation. I believe in its mission and its value as an educational institution that develops young women in a dynamic, academically rigorous, and faith-filled environment. It is truly a Pittsburgh treasure.
It's important that young women spend pre-career time in an environment with no element of gender bias. It's tradition for boys/men to have swagger, pride, "make the first move", and talk a good game (which can be very intimidating academically). OC helps girls enter college seeking out the hardest degree they can find, acknowledging but ignoring their fears, with the little voice in their head saying, "of course I can do this, why not me?"
As an OC graduate of '04, I am particularly displeased about the under representation of African American students in their advertisements and/or publications. We have to do better at encouraging young women of all races to achieve their highest academic potential!
