My first appointment with Dr. McClanahan was a month ago and I’m still feeling the deep level of hope that I left with that day. He was the first of six podiatrists I’ve been to over recent years, who listened with compassion, care, and personal knowledge of foot relief and healing that doesn’t require surgery or orthotics. He analyzed my feet and showed me, via his own experiences, the path to healthier feet. I now have that path to pain free comfort and freedom to walk and engage actively in my life. I can only speak about my first appointment with Dr. McClanahan virtually. He was very patient and took the time to answer all of my questions. He is the 3rd podiatrist I've consulted and his therapy suggestions make the most sense to me. He has also given me hope that I can rid myself of my foot pain without resorting to surgery or just having to live with it. I haven't begun the therapy yet, but I think I'm off to a good start!

His enthusiasm is contagious, and when I left, I took that enthusiasm along with me, as well as a pair of toe separators, a set of metatarsal pads and a new pair of running shoes. This morning I ran without abusing my poor toes. I believe I'm on the w... read more

Dr. McClanahan was exactly the right doctor for me. I've had two foot surgeries that I may have been able to avoid had I known my options to deal with left foot metatarsalgia (hammer toe). His understanding of foot biomechanics and how to address abnormal foot movement patterns, orthotic use, and proper shoe options will help to slowly change how you feel and how you move. He can't undo what's been done surgically but if I consistently follow his recommendations I know good results and restoration of function are in my futur... read more
